Revelation 13:1 speaks of a "beast" that will "rise out of the sea" representing the evil spirit (Belial) that inhabits the Antichrist. Belial has shown great antagonism against God and Jesus throughout history. ".there shall rise unto you from the tribe of Judah and of Levi, the salvation (Yeshua) of the Lord, and He shall make war against Belial" That makes this a reference to the Antichrist as one possessed by Belial. Many believe that "man of sin (or lawlessness)" is a reference to Belial, and the other a reference to the Antichrist. Jesus came, in His first coming, to cast this Belial into the abyss. We have not had to face this evil being, since when Jesus came, His death and resurrection meant a binding of this Belial to the abyss until the last days. When Jesus came, He sent "Belial" to the abyss, and this evil spirit has long awaited his release to inhabit the ruler of the last kingdom. He is called "Beelzebub", and many other names. (Matthew 9:24, 12:24.) And for many centuries, he led the demons and many forces. Belial is referred to as the ‘prince of devils'. A being that is part human, part angelic being, named 'belial', is ruler over demon spirits, and ruling spirit powers.
